A Computed Tomography (CT or "CAT") Scan is a painless, noninvasive method of diagnostic imaging that uses special X-ray equipment to produce multiple pictures of the body. A CT scan collects several multi-slices of data in a single revolution, in less than one second. A computer then joins the images together to generate cross-sectional views of the area being studied.Compared to standard X-rays, CT scans offer far more depth and clarity. Hundreds of images can be collected in just a few minutes. CT scans are more detailed than conventional X-rays and are excellent sources for evaluating internal organs, bone and soft tissue. Our Radiologists use CT scans to diagnose a wide range of medical conditions including cancer, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, trauma, and musculoskeletal disorders.
